The Vane Arms - Then & Now

The above photograph appears to be taken from an Edwardian picture postcard and shows the Vane Arms and village green. The people shown on the far right are understood to be Mr. and Mrs. J. Madison Hall and their son.
The image below is roughly the same view approximately 100 years later (taken in the year 2000). Not much has changed but look how the trees on the green have grown, all apart from the one that has now disappeared that is.
